Long time no blog! LOL I just landed a principle role in a movie!! This is my first EVER acting job and I am both excited and very nervous. I can't give too many details about the movie only that its going to be a blast to film!! I am not going to be at the Hot Import Nights show in Hawaii but will be at the Miami show. Hot Import Nights is now a television show that airs on the Speed Channel, Tuesdays at 10:30p Eastern time. The show is hosted by my good friend AJ! So make sure you check it out. The new Hometown Hottie winner will be announced tomorrow...so this is officially the end of my "reign". Its been such an amazing experience and I feel sooooo lucky to have been able to represent Maxim this year!!

Stop Oil Speculation

Our country is facing a possible sharp economic downturn because of skyrocketing oil and fuel prices, but by pulling together, we can all do something to help now.

For airlines, ultra-expensive fuel means thousands of lost jobs and severe reductions in air service to both large and small communities. To the broader economy, oil prices mean slower activity and widespread economic pain. This pain can be alleviated, and that is why we are taking the extraordinary step of writing this joint letter to our customers.

Since high oil prices are partly a response to normal market forces, the nation needs to focus on increased energy supplies and conservation. However, there is another side to this story because normal market forces are being dangerously amplified by poorly regulated market speculation.

Twenty years ago, 21 percent of oil contracts were purchased by speculators who trade oil on paper with no intention of ever taking delivery. Today, oil speculators purchase 66 percent of all oil futures contracts, and that reflects just the transactions that are known. Speculators buy up large amounts of oil and then sell it to each other again and again. A barrel of oil may trade 20-plus times before it is delivered and used; the price goes up with each trade and consumers pick up the final tab. Some market experts estimate that current prices reflect as much as $30 to $60 per barrel in unnecessary speculative costs.

Over seventy years ago, Congress established regulations to control excessive, largely unchecked market speculation and manipulation. However, over the past two decades, these regulatory limits have been weakened or removed. We believe that restoring and enforcing these limits, along with several other modest measures, will provide more disclosure, transparency and sound market oversight. Together, these reforms will help cool the over-heated oil market and permit the economy to prosper.

The nation needs to pull together to reform the oil markets and solve this growing problem.

Anyone who has seen Erin McKinnon's portfolio on One Model Place (OMP Model #304174) knows that she was a hottie way before Maxim Magazine crowned her the "Hometown Hottie" winner in the popular publication's recent competition.

Erin has been modeling for only two years, but they have been a busy two years. She recalls,

"I tried to pursue modeling when I was younger, but was more devoted to ballet at the time."

Once she grew up and started living on her own, the native found that she could book modeling jobs and still have plenty of time for school as well. "It is a job that always changes and keeps me on my feet."

Considering her short time in the field, Erin's success rate has been exponential. But that doesn't mean she had it easy starting out as a model.

"In the beginning, I didn't really do anything. I was heavier than I am now, and wasn't getting booked for much. Then in November of 2006, I won the title of Miss Ormond Beach USA and was going on to compete at Miss Florida. I wanted to compete for Miss USA one day and knew I needed to be in the best shape of my life. I hired a fantastic personal trainer in town and totally transformed my body. After the pageant, I become more confident in myself and suddenly found that I was booking more jobs."

The Florida resident describes herself as a "serious" model.

"I take every job very seriously, especially since I quit working an hourly job a few months ago. I now make my livelihood modeling and, just like any job, you have to put your heart into it. You also have to realize that the modeling world is very small and everything you do -- good or bad -- someone will hear about it."

Erin was at a casting when she heard about One Model Place.

"I immediately set up a profile and started getting massive amounts of emails for bookings and shoots. OMP is one of my favorite networking tools. The site has given me an outlet to share my portfolio with other people in the industry."

The brunette beauty did not do very well in her first attempt at becoming Maxim's Hometown Hottie.

"I actually entered the competition last year and did not go any further than the first round. My goal this year was to make it into the top 100 girls. I really just entered for fun, not thinking that it would actually go anywhere. I don't put myself in the same category as many of the models I see on their website or in the magazine."

This year, her path to becoming a semifinalist was much easier.

"I was getting ready for the Miss Florida USA pageant, so I didn't publicize Maxim at all. I actually tried to drop out of the competition when I was in the top 100 because it was stirring up a lot of commotion with the 'Pageant People.' Luckily for me, Icehouse was sponsoring the contest and because of that sponsorship I wasn't able to drop out.† Not to mention the fact that everything had already gone to print."

Erin readily admits that no one was more surprised than her when she won the competition.

"I flew up to NYC to do some press for the finalists. I just thought I was the only girl that was able to go to NYC at the time. I walked in for my interview and everyone screamed, 'Congratulations!' I was floored and thought the whole thing was a big joke. I kept thinking that this should be happening to someone else."

Icehouse and Maxim threw a party for all of the finalists in South Beach.

"That was the first time I had ever been out in South Beach, and it was amazing. I also met a lot of people at the event – I don't think I can ever attend a party without networking. There are some pictures on the Maxim photo blog that basically describe it all. The cool part of the night is when they introduced us at the club. I think that was the first time it really hit me that I had won."

Erin shares some very helpful hints for future aspiring Hometown Hotties.

"Be natural. There were so many girls that shot videos of themselves stripping down to lingerie because they thought that was what was necessary. I wore long pants and a tied up t-shirt and worked out at the gym in my video. I truly was myself throughout the entire competition, and I am really proud of myself for that. If you are true to who you are, no matter what the result, you won't be disappointed in the end."

She also has some advice for models who are just starting out.

"Have fun, but at the same time take in every moment because you never know when it is going to end. Don't compromise your integrity. Before you do anything, set your boundaries and stick to them. Make sure you find someone you can trust in the industry to give you advice and criticism."

I got a little infection so I have been on antibiotics for the past few days. The pain killers have been making me sick, so I feel like I have gotten out of bed in a week :( Oh well...hopefully tomorrow I will feel much better.

I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday and it was not that bad at all!!! Well I was knocked out for the majority of the day but today I feel great! My mouth is a little sore but I think that is to be expected. I am doing a complete mouth overhaul...LOL...over the next couple of weeks. I have never been happy with my teeth, so I am finally doing something about it. With the pulling of the teeth, and shaping and sanding and $10,000 later I should have the best smile ever! Or I hope. As of now...I will be paying off my car and my smile for the next five years! Oh well...I guess its the price you have to pay.

So Today I am just taking it easy. Cleaning up around the house and waiting for my mom to get in town. Friday I go to the dentist again to get some more work done. The good thing is after Friday I am halfway done! YAY!!! Then Friday night I get to go out for a friend's birthday. Have a good day!

6/1/08 HIN Columbus Recap

I am sitting in the airport...again :) Seems like I spend the majority of my time in airports nowadays. Hot Import Nights Columbus, Ohio was last last and it was a very slow show. I guess Ohio State had their graduation last night along with another college. There was a decent turn out but it would have been great to have a huge crowd. The good thing that came out of it was I had so much down time that I really got a chance to get to know the other models. The are all so sweet and very down to earth.

I am feeling much better today. I slept all day Friday when I got to Columbus and slept in late Saturday before the show. Now I am recovered and can get my wisdom teeth pulled..YAY! Just kidding :) I have two weeks off until I go to HIN Maryland, so this is the perfect time to get this done.

HIN Maryland is going to be fun. I heard it should be a big show with lots of people. The awesome part about going to Maryland is that we have a tour of the White House arranged for us. I am excited because I have never been to Washington D.C. before.

So I have two weeks off until Maryland...this week coming up I am getting my teeth pulled so I am taking the whole week off. The next week I am going to Vero Beach for a couple of days to vacation and take a break. So I will be turning the cell phone off and trying to relax. Then its off again. In the midst of all of this, I am going to be looking for a new apartment. So that should be fun and exciting..JK.

Well there is a little update as of now. I will post some pictures from yesterday's HIN event as soon as I get them!

5/30/08 In Columbus, OH

I just got into Columbus and am sitting in my hotel room. I think I am getting a cold from traveling so much...so I am going to take it easy tonight. The plan for the rest of the afternoon/evening is dinner, renting a movie and then bed. I have to get my wisdom teeth taken out on Tuesday so I want to take it easy before then.

So about my Maxim shoot...It was awesome!!!! Besides the fact that I was soooo tired. The photographer was Amber Gray and she was amazing. Very professional and easy to work with. My hair and make-up team were amazing!!! We did three different looks...a casual, a HOT dress and a swimsuit. The last shot I had to get all oiled up and wet. I seriously was wet and greasy from head to toe even my hair. Right after that shot I had to put on normal clothes and go straight to the airport. I felt so nasty...all I wanted to do was take a shower.

The project was a shoot for Verizon V-Cast. There will be a full page ad in July's Maxim that will explain everything but there will be 25 new pictures and 3 videos that will be available for download on Verizon phones. Pretty Awesome!!!

I will be at Hot Import Nights tomorrow at Model Central. If you are in Columbus you should stop by!! Below is a sneak peak from the shoot.

5/27/08 In the Airport AGAIN

I have been sitting in the Charlotte airport for over 9 hours!!! I am trying to get to NYC for a shoot at 9am tomorrow morning. I am so tired and just want to take a shower. I really hate flying right now and I have to turn around and fly home tomorrow at 4:30P. I wonder if anyone actually reads my blog. I probably sound like a whiny brat right now LOL. So anyways...tomorrow I am shooting for Verizon. A full page advertisement will appear in the July issue of Maxim...so make sure to go check that out. 5.25.08 Memorial Day Weekend

My mom came in town this weekend. Its always nice to be with my mom and relax. We were at my grandma's condo on the beach all weekend and it was so relaxing. Last night Carly came over and we downed a couple bottles of wine...thus the reason why I have this killer headache today. Right now I am doing laundry because I leave to go to NYC on Tuesday. My schedule is sooper crazy this week...NYC Tuesday-Wednesday and then I go to Columbus, OH Friday-Sunday for Hot Import Nights. Then I come home on Monday and have to get two teeth pulled...OUCH! Sitting in the Airport

I haven't written on this thing in forever. I just started working with Hot Import Nights and am on my way to Chicago as we speak. I am sitting in Atlanta at 9:45 AM and am super bored and sleepy. My flight left out of Daytona Beach at 7:15am! You see some strange things and people in the airport and it cracks me up sitting here watching. Just a few minutes ago this couple was sucking face right across from me. NASTY! Talk about feeling uncomfortable. At least there is a cute army boy sitting behind me :) I stay in Chicago until Sunday and then I fly to Atlanta to see my mom for Mother's Day. It will be nice to have some time away and not have to work.

Diets suck! It took me forever to get an awesome body and its amazing how fast you can blow it all. After the cruise, Thanksgiving, and engagement stuff...it is finally catching up with me. So I have gotten my lazy butt back to this gym and I am sooooo sore! Oh well...its only five pounds :)

Shoot tomorrow

Tomorrow I have to wake up bright and early to do a photo shoot for Tim's business. He gets off cheap because his fiance' models. LOL. The tomorrow afternoon I go to Orlando for IBS ambassador. The IBS show is a trade show in early feb. I have Wednesday off and then Thursday I am working a show in Orlando. Saturday...Tim and I are going to Miami to audition for the Amazing Race. We LOVE the show and think we would be perfect additions :)Dang..I have to go apply for a passport for the show before we go! Finally....on Sunday I am taking my Dad to the Jags game for his birthday. I am so excited to spend a fun day with my dad! BTW I am on the Maxim photo blog. I just got back from Miami today. What a busy weekend!!! Got in Thursday...partied Friday...shot for Maxim.com Saturday...come home on Sunday! Congratulations to Emily Kuchar and Megan Clementi for winning the titles of Miss Daytona USA and Miss Volusia County USA last night!!! The pageant was successful, although I know what I need to do differently for next time. A big thank you to Mandy, Lara, Kyle, Keith and John for judging and to Lynn and Desiree for auditing the pageant! I know it wasn't easy. So, now I am contemplating competing again for Miss Florida USA...but we'll see. Everyone knows I change my mind like the wind.
